HDC opens co-working space in Hulhumale'

The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has officially inaugurated the co-working space developed in the Container Park in Hulhumale'. The co-working space provides an affordable office solution equipped with high-speed internet, printing services, and a range of other amenities.

The ceremony to open the co-working space was led by Deputy Minister of Economic Development Riyaz Mansoor. The Container Park project was a collaborative effort involving the Ministry of Economic Development, Business Center Corporation (BCC), and HDC. It forms a crucial part of the broader initiative of HDC to transform Hulhumale' into a modern urban city. The Container Park stands out with its modern and artistic design, adding to the city's aesthetic appeal.

Speaking at the opening, Deputy Minister Riyaz Mansoor emphasised the government's commitment to supporting small businesses, highlighting that limited space is one of the key challenges they face. The government has launched initiatives like the SME Hub and Authentic Maldives to foster a conducive environment for small businesses, with plans to establish an SME hub in Kulhudhuffushi City and Addu City.

Meanwhile, Deputy Managing Director of HDC Ahmed Qais revealed that the co-working space will see further development in the future, with plans to include a takeaway cafe, fast food outlet, meeting room, and a public gathering area. There will be 25 workstations available for small businesses, along with two cafes and a beautiful park, he added.

The co-working space offers opportunities for budding entrepreneurs, individuals, and groups in need of such facilities. For the first month, usage of the space will be free, and bookings can be made through an online portal. The endeavor follows the success of BCC's first co-working space, Seed by BCC, which opened in July 2021 and can accommodate up to 40 people concurrently.
