Haa Alifu Atoll Hospital has commenced emergency services. Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) Adam Azim inaugurated the emergency services at a special ceremony in Dhidhdhoo, Haa Alifu Atoll.
Dhidhdhoo has a population of 5,000 residents and receives many visitors from the region seeking various services such as healthcare. Residents are reliant on the services provided by the Haa Alifu Atoll Hospital in Dhidhdhoo. However, the lack of emergency services has been a challenge for the hospital.
Speaking to PSM News, Manager Adam Naseer said that Haa Alifu Atoll Hospital procured all necessary resources prior to commencing emergency services, expressing confidence that this will alleviate the worries of residents. He clarified that the emergency services will be provided to the entire atoll and that the hospital plans to add more beds in the emergency room. He added that the staff is fully prepared in cases where the current beds are not enough by using beds in other wards.
Additionally, Naseer detailed the other new services available at the hospital, including detailed X-ray and eye care services as well as an expanded dialysis treatment. He highlighted that dental services, physiotherapy, orthopedics, and new types of operations are also available at the hospital. He further noted that the number of doctors and employees have significantly increased.
Haa Alifu Atoll Hospital previously served 250 and 300 visitors per day, with 2,000 visitors per month. However, the Raajje Transport Link (RTL) high-speed ferry service has significantly increased the number of visitors to 3,000 per month.
