MPS begins fourth round of training for taxi drivers

The Maldives Police Service (MPS) has begun the fourth round of training and refresher programmes for taxi drivers.

MPS stated that it is the final round of the programme this year to provide information on the guidelines and regulations for land vehicles. During the programme, participants will receive information on road safety and guidelines for taxi drivers, as well as the role of taxi drivers in case of accidents and other incidents on the road.

MPS stated that the one-week programme is being held with 83 experienced taxi drivers and 456 new taxi drivers. A total of four rounds of the training and refresher programme for taxi drivers are held each year. Attending the programme is part of the conditions for receiving a taxi driver's license.
