Male' Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) has revealed that the water supply systems in Male' City and Hulhumale' will be connected next year.
In 2018, MWSC contractor the contract China Harbour Engineering Company Limited to connect the water supply systems through the Thimale' Bridge. However, the project has been stalled for the past five years.
Speaking to PSM News, Managing Director of MWSC Abdul Matheen Mohamed said the project will begin within the first 100 days of the new administration. He said that water security will be greatly increased in Male' and Hulhumale' once the networks are connected, as water will be available even in case of a breakdown or disaster. He also said that connecting the water supply systems is the company's top priority and expressed concern that the project has still not been completed.
MWSC stated that the project includes the establishment of a bulk storage and production centre in Hulhumale' and will ensure water security for the residents of Male'.
