President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced schools will commence their sessions with the national anthem every day, following the December school holidays.
During a press briefing on decisions made at Cabinet meeting, President Dr. Muizzu emphasised the objective of this initiative is to foster love for the national anthem, the national flag, and a sense of nationalism among students. The national anthem will be sung during assemblies at the start of each session in all schools, marking a commitment to revitalising nationalism, a key promise of the government.
As part of the Week 14 roadmap, the government plans to implement special programmes at the national level to enhance students' awareness of Islam, nationalism, and the history and culture of Maldives.
While some schools already incorporate the national anthem before the start of school sessions, it is typically limited to one or two designated days.
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's dedication to revitalising nationalism is further underscored by the establishment of the Ministry of Dhivehi Language, Culture and Heritage. This dedicated ministry is actively preparing various activities related to nationality, including the establishment of a college for teaching national languages and a team of researchers focusing on national sciences.
