Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed has stated that the first 50 individuals will be sent to Hajj pilgrimage for free under the ministry's reserve quota.
Speaking to PSM News, Minister Saeed said that the Islamic ministry has always reserved 50 or more slots from the Hajj quota for special circumstances. He detailed that the 50 underprivileged individuals will be selected from the register for poor and needy through a lucky draw and sent to Hajj pilgrimage for free under the reserve quota.
Additionally, Minister Saeed said that the government will soon publish its policy on facilitating free Hajj pilgrimage trips for the underprivileged. He also said that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu is working to increase the Hajj quota, which will significantly reduce the queue. He expressed confidence that the president's efforts will be successful.
