Maldivian, the national airline, has decided to increase its flights to specific destinations in the Maldives ahead of the upcoming school holidays.
The additional flights are set to operate from December 18 to January 6, encompassing seven destinations across the Maldives. These destinations include the airports in Faresmaathoda in Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll, Fuvahmulah City, Hanimaadhoo in Haa Dhaalu Atoll, Hoarafushi in Haa Alifu Atoll, Funadhoo in Shaviyani Atoll, Maavarulu in Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll, and Thimarafushi in Thaa Atoll. The airline plans to conduct flights to most of these airports two to three times a week.
The national airline has adjusted its flight schedule, introducing flights on days beyond its usual operations to align with the holiday season. Notably, there will be additional flights to Fuvahmulah City Airport on December 22, 24, and 25, as well as January 3, 4, and 5. Hanimaadhoo Airport will see additional flights on December 21 and 25, as well as January 3 and 6. Hoarafushi Airport, which operates flights on Sundays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, will experience additional flights on December 18 and 23, as well as January 1 and 4. Funadhoo Airport, which operates flights on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, will have extra flights on December 22 and 24, along with January 5.
Additionally, Maavarulu Airport, which operates flights every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, will see additional flights on December 21 and 23, as well as January 4. Faresmaathoda Airport, which operates flights on Mondays and Thursdays, will receive an additional flight on December 22 and January 5. Thimarafushi Airport, which operates flights every Monday and Thursday, will add an extra flight on December 24.
The decision to increase flight services comes in response to the growing demand for Maldivian Airline flights during the school holidays, as more individuals seek travel options for medical treatment and leisure in and out of the country.
