President sends greetings to citizens on Huravee Day

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has conveyed his greetings and good wishes to all Maldivians to commemorate this year's Huravee Day. He sent his greetings through a social media post on Saturday.

The government has resumed organising Huravee Day celebrations this year after several years, such as the children’s festival organised by the Ministry of Dhivehi Language, Culture, and Heritage on December 15. President Dr. Muizzu and First Lady Sajidha Mohamed will additionally attend the official ceremony to mark this year’s Huravee Day at the Social Centre in Male' City.

Huravee Day holds significance as it commemorates the uprising led by Sultan Hassan Izzuddeen in 1752, liberating the Maldives from the brief occupation by the Malabaris of southern India. The day serves as a reminder for citizens to honor national heroes and to uphold the spirit of freedom, nationalism, and enthusiasm they instilled in the hearts of the people.
