Gov't affirms Maldives commitment to sovereignty in its long history

Minister of Dhivehi Language, Culture and Heritage Adam Naseer Ibrahim has underscored the unwavering commitment of the Maldivian state to independence and sovereignty throughout its four-millennia history. He made the remark while speaking at the official function to commemorate Huravee Day held at the Maldives Center for Social Education (MCSE).

Speaking at the function, Minister Adam highlighted Huravee Day as a pivotal moment in the defense of the Maldivian state, occurring approximately 270 years ago. He underscored the resilience and victory of the Maldivian citizens, emphasising the historical significance of the event.

Additionally, Minister Adam stressed that the Maldivian state holds the distinction of being the oldest in the region, boasting a history that spans four thousand years. He underscored the unwavering belief of the citizens in their own independence throughout the extensive timeline.

Furthermore, Minister Adam expressed that the Maldivian people are self-reliant and poised on a solid foundation. He also commended President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu for his endeavors to revive nationalism within the country.

Huravee Day holds significance as it commemorates the uprising led by Sultan Hassan Izzuddeen in 1752, liberating the Maldives from the brief occupation by the Malabaris of southern India. The day serves as a reminder for citizens to honor national heroes and to uphold the spirit of freedom, nationalism, and enthusiasm they instilled in the hearts of the people.
