Tourist arrivals increase by 12%

Ministry of Tourism has revealed that tourist arrivals have increased by 12.7% so far this year.

The latest statistics from the tourism ministry show that 1.77 million tourists visited the Maldives as of December 16, which is an increase of 12.7% compared to the 1.57 million tourists in the same period in 2022.

The statistics show that the largest number of tourists visited from Russia with 199,314 arrivals while 197,433 tourists visited from India, 182,462 visited from China and 146,695 tourists visited from the United Kingdom (UK), and 128,785 visited from Germany. In addition, a total of 1,135 tourist establishments are open in the Maldives, consisting of 61,207 beds. They include resorts, hotels, guesthouses, and liveaboards.

The government aims to welcome 1.8 million tourists in 2023 and break last year’s record of 1.6 million tourists.
