HDC vows to expedite Fushidhiggaru Falhu reclamation

Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has vowed to expedite the Fushidhiggaru Falhu reclamation project.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Managing Director Fazul Rasheed thanked President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu for entrusting HDC with the largest reclamation project ever in the country's history. He said that HDC will fully support the implementation of the President's manifesto, assuring that the administration's largest housing project will be completed quickly and efficiently. He added that he would expedite the formulation and implementation of a development plan for the reclaimed area with the instructions of the government.

HDC is overseeing the development of Fushidhiggaru Falhu while the reclamation of the area has been awarded to Sri Lanka-based Capital Marine and Civil Construction Company (CMC), Royal Boskalis Westminster of the Netherlands and China.

The reclaimed area in Fushidhiggaru Falhu will be named Rasmale' and is planned to become the first carbon-free city in the Maldives. The administration aims to reclaim an area three times larger than Hulhumale' within eight months.
