Upon the Cabinet’s recommendation, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has decided to reserve 21 jobs exclusively for Maldivians in fields with talented, interested and promising Maldivian youth. This decision followed discussions on a paper submitted by the Ministry of Higher Education during a Cabinet meeting.
This policy's main objectives include developing Maldivians in specific sectors and preventing the decline of Maldivians in these fields. Hence, the positions listed in these fields will only be open to Maldivians and there will be numerous phases to the policy's implementation.
The specialised vocations to be reserved only to Maldives are:
* Hairdresser
* Beautician
* Baby sitting
* Personal Trainer
* Electrician
* Guest Relations Officer
* Tour guide
* Diver
* Photographer
* Electrical Engineer
* Housekeeping Manager
* Human Resource Manager
* Front Office Manager
* Accountant
* Imam
* Nurse
* Teacher
* Inspector
* Surveyor
* Site Supervisor
* Pilot
At a press conference held at the President's Office on the Cabinet meeting, the Principal Secretary to the President on Public Policy, Abdullah Nazim Ibrahim stated that the relevant agencies will prioritise training Maldivians in these areas.
