Ninety hectares reclaimed so far in Gulhifalhu

Minister of Construction and Infrastructure Dr. Abdulla Muththalib has stated that 90 hectares have been reclaimed so far in Gulhifalhu.

In a post on X, Minister Muththalib said that the Gulhifalhu reclamation project is progressing according to schedule and that the government is committed to complete the project as soon as possible and start building basic infrastructure.

In July, the previous government commissioned Boskalis Westminster Contracting Limited to undertake the second phase of the Gulhifalhu land reclamation project, creating 150 hectares of land for the Binveriyaa housing scheme and the Gulhifalhu Port project. Boskalis Westminster Contracting is dredging and reclaiming 18 million cubic metres of sand at a cost of USD120 million under the second phase.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has revealed that his administration plans to expand the Gulhifalhu and Giraavaru Falhu reclamation projects. President Muizzu said that his administration has decided to expand the reclamation projects commenced by the previous government by increasing the land area to be reclaimed for housing development to its maximum limit.
