Gov't plans New Year festival for all ages

Minister of Youth Empowerment, Information and Arts Ibrahim Waheed has announced plans for a festival coinciding with New Year celebrations that can be enjoyed by people of all ages.

During a press conference, Minister Waheed disclosed a departure from the traditional New Year show, opting for a festive celebration this year. He highlighted the inclusion of a family evening for children, a laser show, fireworks, and a music show.

Additionally, Minister Waheed unveiled the 'Dhivehi Raajjeyge Festival 2024' as a special platform for Maldivian artists. He underscored a shift in focus from international artists, expressing the government's commitment to prioritising and promoting local artistic endeavors. He also said that a high priority of the administration is to ensure that the first festival under their governance becomes a unique showcase for local talent.

The ministry stated that the festival is scheduled to take place on December 31 at Central Park in Hulhumale' and welcomed all citizens to join the festivities.
