The Public Service Media (PSM) and the Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Skills Development have signed an agreement to provide media coverage of activities marking the 100th anniversary of Majeediyya School.
The agreement was signed by State Minister at the Ministry of Education Ahmed Mohamed on behalf of the ministry and PSM Managing Director Ahmed Shakeeb on behalf of Public Service Media.
Speaking about the agreement, State Minister Ahmed Mohamed said special programmes would be organised in collaboration with Majeediyya School, PSM and the Ministry of Education to mark the school’s centenary. He noted that activities commemorating the anniversary would continue throughout the year, with the ministry, current students and alumni taking part in organising and promoting them.
“A range of activities will be covered as part of this initiative. We will launch a 1,000-day countdown to the centenary. Majeedhiyya School will mark its 100th anniversary in April,” the state minister said.
PSM Managing Director Ahmed Shakeeb said Majeediyya School was one of the leading institutions in the Maldives’ education sector and had a proud 100-year history.
“This is a great honour for us. It is a great pleasure to participate in the activities marking Majeediyya School’s centenary,” Shakeeb said.
Former Deputy Principal of Majeediyya School and alumni association member Ibrahim Ismail also spoke at the ceremony. He said the school had made significant contributions to the nation, noting that many of its graduates had gone on to serve in important institutions and hold senior positions across the country.
Majeediyya School will mark its 100th anniversary on 19 April 2027. A 1,000-day countdown to the centenary has already begun, with several activities held this year. Further activities are planned to continue through next year as part of the anniversary celebrations.
