Parliament goes to recess after completing 57% of work

The Parliament of the Maldives has concluded the last session of the year and gone to recess after completing 57.3% of the work during the last session of the year.

Concluding the last session of the Parliament, Speaker Mohamed Aslam shared details of the work completed. The session ended after 36 sittings and 93 hours of work done. The most important work done during the session included the approval of this year's supplementary budget and the approval of the 2024 state budget.

Additionally, the Parliament passed five bills during the session. They are the Sixth Amendment Bill to the Local Council Elections Act, the Fourth Amendment Bill to the Elections (General) Act, Company Bill, Industrial Relations Bill, and the Occupational Safety and Health Bill.

Furthermore, the Parliament has withdrawn 14 bills proposed by the previous government at the request of the new administration in accordance with the relevant laws. In addition, a total of 25 resolutions were submitted to the Parliament, of which six have been completed and 17 resolutions are in the committee stage.
