President vows not to alter allocated land plots

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has vowed not to make alterations to the residential land plots allocated by the previous government.

Speaking at a People's National Congress (PNC) function, President Muizzu denied claims from the opposition that his administration intends to transfer the land plots allocated in Gulhifalhu, Giraavaru Falhu, and Hulhumale' to Rasmale'. He said that he has not held any discussions on transferring the plots, adding that he plans to expand the land area being reclaimed in Gulhifalhu and Giraavaru Falhu to allocate more plots for residential housing.

As such, President Muizzu highlighted that his administration plans to reclaim 50 more hectares in Giraavaru Falhu and 85 hectares in Gulhifalhu while overseeing the completion of the ongoing reclamation project in Hulhumale'. He said that housing is his highest priority, and that no citizen would be left without housing by the end of his five-year term.

Additionally, President Muizzu said that the Economic Council and other relevant authorities will propose measures to assist land plot recipients in constructing houses. He said the proposals will be approved by the Cabinet and the subsequent plans will be implemented to provide assistance to the recipients. He also said that the administration is working on introducing loans with less than 5% interest.
