Gov't begins transfering Hulhumale' municipal services to Male' City Council

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has made the decision to transfer all municipal services of Hulhumale' to the Male' City Council within a month.

In a post on X, President Muizzu said that his Cabinet has decided to transfer municipal services of Hulhumale' to Male City Council, as clearly specified in the law. As such, he said the transfer process of offices, machinery, equipment, municipal land, staff will be completed within one month.

Additionally, President Muizzu said that all staff will continue to receive the same remuneration as they are currently receiving for one year. He noted that transferring all municipal services of Hulhumale' to the Male' City Council is a pledge he made during the election and that details of the process will be announced soon.

HDC currently provides the municipal services in Hulhumale'. During his campaign, President Muizzu pledged to transfer all municipal services of Hulhumale' to the Male' City Council within the first 100 days of his administration. He had said that transferring the services will allow the city council to transform Hulhumale' in accordance with the expectations of the residents.
