President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has decided to establish rehabilitation centres in three regions of the country.
These centres will be established in Kaashidhoo in Kaafu Atoll, Velidhoo in Noonu Aotll, and Laamu Atoll. President Muizzu made the decision after deliberating on a paper submitted by the Ministry of Homeland Security and Technology at a Cabinet meeting.
In addition to establishing these centres, President Muizzu has also decided to authorize the operation of the treatment centres in accordance with the recommendations of the Cabinet. In addition, President Muizzu decided to start a community-based rehabilitation programme for drug addicts with the assistance of the relevant authorities in accordance with the laws and regulations of the Maldives and in accordance with Islamic principles.
