MNDF, MPS salaries to be increased in first quarter

Minister of Finance Dr. Mohamed Shafeeq has announced that the salaries for the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) and Maldives Police Service (MPS) will be increased in the first quarter of this year.

Speaking to PSM News, Minister Shafeeq said that efforts are currently underway to formulate the necessary salary structure. He assured that the new structure will be established soon, with details of the adjustments to the salary to be announced.

Additionally, Minister Shafeeq highlighted the importance of harmonising pay as a key objective, aiming to bridge the salary gap between different institutions. He emphasised the need for a balanced approach, stressing the significance of reducing discrepancies in salaries and ensuring the retention of qualified personnel in each agency.

Furthermore, Minister Shafeeq said that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has committed to salary increases for the MNDF and MPS during his administration. He said that the state budget has allocated USD32 million specifically for pay harmonisation. As such, he affirmed that the process of harmonising pay will be systematically implemented across different agencies.
