Ex-President Solih condemns use of hateful language towards India

Former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has condemned the use of hateful language directed at India. He made the statement in response to growing concerns surrounding offensive social media posts targeting India.

In a post on X, former President Solih emphasised the historical status of India as a friendly nation to the Maldives. He urged against engaging in dialogue that might undermine the longstanding relationship with India. He also condemned the spread of hateful language aimed at India by Maldivian government officials on social media.

Additionally, former Vice President Faisal Naseem and senior government officials have joined in condemning the disrespectful comments circulating on social media towards India and its leaders. The government of the Maldives has also stated that action will be taken against some government officials engaging in such conduct.
