Authentic Maldives disburses USD4 million in four years

Business Centre Corporation (BCC) has stated that Authentic Maldives disbursed USD4 million to suppliers in four years.

Authentic Maldives initially commenced operations with 57 suppliers, but has since experienced substantial growth. Authentic Maldives now boasts a network of over 300 suppliers. The expansion has significantly broadened the product range, with more than 3,000 items available in Authentic Maldives outlets. The products are sourced not only from Male' City but also from various atolls across the Maldives, encompassing a diverse array, including children's products.

Authentic Maldives is an initiative by BCC to promote the sale of local products. The purpose of Authentic Maldives is to provide a platform where small businesses could market and sell their local products. Authentic Maldives presently operates four physical outlets within the Maldives and maintains kiosks at two airports in Japan. In addition, individuals can engage in online transactions through the platform.

Authentic Maldives is working to expand its presence in Maldivian resorts, thereby facilitating a broader market for local businesses within the hospitality sector. BCC also aims to promote and showcase suppliers' products at international tourism and trade-related fairs globally.

As the legal entity responsible for strengthening the development of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the Maldives, BCC has established business centres in 13 regions across the country, ensuring accessibility of its services to the public. The corporation is committed to providing free consultancy and assistance to aspiring entrepreneurs looking to start their own businesses.
