Azim, MDP will not disappoint Male' residents: Solih

Former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has stated that Male' City Mayor-elect Adam Azim and the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) will not disappoint the residents of Male' City.

Speaking at an event held to celebrate Azim's win, former President Solih said that Azim will not try to form a government within the government. He also said Azim has a clear vision for his mayoral term, involving developing and solving the issues in the overcrowded city in accordance with the expectations of the residents.

Additionally, former President Solih said that Azim will receive the full support of MDP in his initiatives. Describing Azim's mayoral win as laying the foundation of his political career, Solih advised him to continue the work entrusted to him by the people with honesty, loyalty and trustworthiness, as that would lead to success.

Also at the event, Azim noted that MDP tends to slow down once the party receives a victory. However, he said that the party should work even harder after victory, as it is not the end but only just the beginning. He said MDP is striving to implement initiatives that benefit the entire nation, with a vision centered on fostering a dignified and respected citizenship. He added that the opposition party stands ready to solve the problems faced by residents and to fight for their rights.
