PPM/PNC coalition secures four local council seats

The ruling coalition of Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) and the People's National Congress (PNC) has won Kaafu Atoll Council presidency, three local council seats, and one women's development committee (WDC) seat uncontested.

The PPP/PNC candidates were elected uncontested as no other candidates contested the by-election. As such, the candidates won the seats of the President of the Kaafu Atoll Council, the vacant seats of Maroshi Island Council and Faresmaathoda Island Council, and the vacant seat of the the WDC in Thoddoo, Alifu Alifu Atoll.

The results show that PNC candidate Ahmed Anis was elected as the President of the Kaafu Atoll Council and PNC candidate Hussain Nazim was elected as member of the Maroshi Coucil. PNC candidate Hassan Azim was elected as a member of the Faresmathoda council while PPM candidate Waseema Ibrahim has been elected to fill the vacancy of the WDC in Thoddoo.
