Foreign Minister in Uganda to participate in 19th NAM Summit

Minister of Foreign Affairs Moosa Zameer has traveled to Uganda to participate in the 19th Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Summit.

Upon his arrival, Minister Zameer participated in the Opening Session of the Ministerial Meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) chaired by Uganda. The Ministerial Meeting precedes the 19th NAM Summit.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed the commitment of the Maldives to ensure the Summit is a success. As such, the Maldives will work within NAM to further shared interests and counter emerging and new global challenges.

Maldives became a member of the NAM on August 15, 1976 and has since participated and contributed to the work of the Movement. NAM was established in 1956 and counts 120 countries amongst its membership.
