President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has constituted the National Institute for Maldivian Heritage Research under the Ministry of Dhivehi Language, Culture and Heritage. He established the new institution under the discretion vested in him by Article 116 of the Constitution of the Maldives.
According to the directive published by the President's Office, all correspondence addressed to the National Institute for Maldivian Heritage Research shall use the number 497, per the numbering system for state agencies.
The National Institute for Maldivian Heritage Research is a government institution founded to revive and instill knowledge of the Dhivehi language, history, culture, heritage, legacy, traditions, and patriotism within its mandate. Additionally, the institution aims to foster a sense of patriotism and a general knowledge and comprehension of nationalism among the populace.
The National Institute for Maldivian Heritage Research conducts activities encompassing a variety of tasks, including revitalising a sense of patriotism and spirit of service, translating articles about the country from various languages into the local dialect, translating traditional materials about the Maldives and its indigenous population into Dhivehi.
