Funadhoo fuel storage to be relocated to Maagiri Falhu

The government has decided to move the fuel storage located in Funadhoo in Kaafu Atoll to Maagiri Falhu.

At a press conference, Public Policy Secretary at the President’s Office Abdulla Nazim said that the Economic Council has made the decision to initiate the process of relocating the fuel storage from Funadhoo to Maagiri Falhu. He also said that the council had decided to assign State Trading Organisation (STO) with the task of relocating its fuel storage.

The government has denied claims that the fuel storage facility in Funadhoo is being relocated to the Maagiri Falhu near the Sheraton Maldives Full Moon Resort. It is instead being relocated to the Maagiri Falhu near Thilafushi.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that the fuel storage will be relocated within 18-24 months. He also said that Funadhoo would be developed as a financial hub, with financial centres, conventions centers and hotels.
