Gov't launches Strata Portal

The government has launched the Strata Portal as part of the government's week-14 roadmap, to streamline the registration process and management of strata communities. Former Minister of Housing and Urban Development Ibrahim Rafeeq inaugurated the portal at a ceremony.

Strata refers to a legal concept in real estate that involves individual ownership of a particular unit within a larger property or building complex. It pertains to a system of shared ownership where individual units or apartments are owned privately, while common areas such as corridors, elevators, or recreational facilities are jointly owned and managed by all unit owners in the building.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Minister of Housing, Land, and Urban Development Dr. Ali Haidar Ahmed highlighted the role of the portal in simplifying the management of strata communities. He also expressed the government's commitment to enhancing convenience for residents in strata communities.

The Strata Portal facilitates the registration of strata communities and the oversight of management companies associated with such communities. It aims to streamline the registration, sale, and management of projects developed by companies as strata communities, contributing to the expansion of the real estate sector in the Maldives.

The government stated that the portal will establish links with relevant government agencies and other entities to streamline permit issuance. The portal serves as a comprehensive database, recording information on strata communities nationwide.
