Mayor of Male' City Adam Azim has stated that he has no concerns over the transfer of projects to the government as long as the projects are conducted well. He made the remark at his first press conference after being sworn in as Mayor.
Speaking at the press conference, Mayor Azim expressed his commitment to increasing the wellbeing of city residents. He also said that he has begun gathering information on the 11 projects that the Male' City council transferred to government ministries last week.
Additionally, Mayor Azim noted that the council handed over the projects to the ministries, accompanied by a stipulation that work must commence within six months. He said that the failure to initiate the projects within the timeframe will result in their reversion back to the city council. He emphasised that he has no concerns over the transfer of the projects and assured that the council will gives its full cooperation to the government in conducting the projects . He also reassured the public that any delays would not come from the council's negligence, emphasising his vigilant monitoring of the progress of the projects.
Furthermore, Mayor Azim expressed reservations about projects aimed at increasing the population in Male', citing the strain on public services due to rapid growth. He pledged to collaborate with the government to transform Male' into a comfortable and peaceful place for families, steering away from initiatives that could exacerbate existing challenges.
