Gov't plans to establish public bureau for complaints

Minister of Homeland Security and Technology Ali Ihusaan has announced plans to establish a public bureau within the ministry to facilitate the submission of complaints from the public.

In a post on X, Minister Ihusaan emphasised that the newly proposed public bureau aims to streamline the process for the public to raise concerns regarding the ministry's activities. He pledged to address and respond to complaints, ensuring a robust system for handling issues related to the home sector. He also highlighted the ministry's commitment to addressing concerns on social media platforms, along with direct meetings with complainants.

Additionally, Minister Ihusaan underscored the ministry's responsibilities, including the rehabilitation of prisoners and the welfare of foreigners residing in the Maldives. He disclosed that the ministry has implemented several measures to tackle such issues effectively.

Furthermore, Minister Ihusaan revealed plans to establish rehabilitation centres for inmates, individuals exposed to conflict zones abroad, and those struggling with substance abuse. He also said that the ministry is working on the implementation of a fingerprint identification system to curb illegal immigration.
