President meets candidates that secured PPM/PNC tickets

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has met with the candidates that secured party tickets during the primary election of the ruling government coalition for the upcoming parliamentary election.

The primary was conducted on January 27 and aimed to determine the candidates for the parliamentary election slated for March 17. The ruling coalition, consisting of the Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) and the People's National Congress (PNC), decided to compete in all constituencies except three. A total of 75 candidates secured the coalition ticket in the primary election, while an additional 15 candidates secured tickets uncontested.

During the meeting, President Dr. Muizzu, accompanied by Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef and Special Advisor to the President and PNC Chairperson Abdul Raheem Abdulla, engaged and held discussions with the candidates.

President Dr. Muizzu, who is also the leader of PNC, has said he was confident that the coalition will receive supermajority after winning at least 62 seats in the parliamentary election. He also vowed to work to fulfill his pledges with sincerity, honesty, and good intentions in order to retain the trust of the people.
