Security strengthened after attack on PG

The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has strengthened its security measures after the attack on Prosecutor General (PG) Hussain Shameem.

The Prosecutor General's Office (PGO) stated that PG Shameem was attacked with weapons by two men on a motorcycle. He has been treated for his injuries at ADK hospital and is now in good condition.

The PGO issued a statement strongly condemning the attack. The incident is being investigated as a serious case by the Maldives Police Service (MPS) and Commissioner of Police Ali Shujau visited PG Shameem at the hospital.

The attack on the prosecutor general has been condemned by political leaders and parties. Furthermore, the incident has been forwarded to the Parliamentary Committee on National Security Services for review.
