President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has assured that his administration will find a way to reimburse fishermen, even if it entails taking a loan from the Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company Limited (MIFCO). President Dr. Muizzu said that fishermen’s dues amounting to USD16 million remained unpaid when the administration took office. He noted that his administration has paid twice as much as USD13 million in dues since he took office, but he also pointed out that a sizable sum is yet to be distributed to the fishermen.

Additionally, President Muizzu declared that efforts were underway to ensure the fishermen received instant access to the total due amount. He went on to state that arrangements would be made in this regard.

Starting February 1, President Muizzu will respond to inquiries from the general public through this series as per his availability. In addition, the President’s Office will offer daily video access to the responses to public inquiries.
