PGO automates court letters for domestic violence cases

The Prosecutor General's Office (PGO) has initiated an automated process of sending court letters, urging quick decisions in cases related to domestic violence.

The PGO is embracing technological advancements, demonstrating a dedication to providing justice for victims of injustice. Through this initiative, case victims gain the ability to monitor case progress, scheduled dates, and key developments on the PGO website. The objective is to empower victims by providing them with an understanding of the criminal justice system, encouraging their participation in the legal process.

Aligned with the objectives of the domestic violence prevention law, ensuring adequate protection for victims is important during criminal prosecutions. The PGO emphasises the need for speedy trials, urging courts to adhere to legally prescribed timelines for fair and impartial proceedings.

To expedite domestic violence cases, the PGO has implemented an automated letter system. In each instance of such cases, the PGO sends a letter to the court, requesting prompt scheduling and conducting trials with integrity. For any case categorised as domestic violence, the PGO ensures the preparation and dispatch of letters to the court. These letters remain accessible, even if there are delays or subsequent reviews. The aim is to motivate courts to efficiently resolve domestic violence case.
