President assures land plots from unreclaimed areas

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has assured that individuals that have been granted land in unreclaimed areas will also receive temporary certificates of land acquisition. He made the statement during the "Raees ge Javaab" series, which facilitates direct public interaction with the President on diverse issues.

Addressing concerns raised by Ibrahim Samah about the progress of the land allocation process, President Dr. Muizzu assured that land registrations for Gulhi Falhu and Giraavaru Falhu would be handed over to the recipients. Emphasising that some individuals had received land in these areas under the previous government, the President said that temporary certificates of land acquisition would be issued to those who obtained land in areas that have yet to be reclaimed.

Additionally, President Dr. Muizzu clarified that registrations occur upon land reclamation, but temporary documents are being issued to confirm land acquisition. As such, he said that the ongoing process of allocating land to individuals in Gulhifalhu, Giraavarufalhu, and Hulhumale' continues.

Under the previous government's housing project, 9,101 individuals received land, but some have not submitted land registrations documents even after the government's term ended. The current initiative is underway to hand over registrations and documents to the remaining 1,114 individuals.

The Binveriya Housing Scheme allocates land in Hulhumale', Gulhifalhu, and Giraavarufalhu, with plans for 1,351 plots in Hulhumale', 2,218 plots in Gulhifalhu, and 5,432 plots in Giraavarufalhu. The government assures that proper land use plans will guide resettlement in the reclaimed areas, and plans for some areas are nearing finalisation.
