ECM re-registers 3,302 voters for parliamentary election

Elections Commission of Maldives (ECM) has revealed over 3,000 voters have been re-registered to vote in the upcoming parliamentary elections.

The opportunity for re-registration will remain open until 1600hrs from February 1-7. Those interested in re-registering in a different location or island than initially registered during the second round of the presidential election can apply within this specified timeframe. Moreover, individuals initially registered in resorts, abroad, industrial sites, and prisons will now have their registration transferred to their permanent addresses.

ECM stated that 3,769 people have applied for re-registration, with 3,302 successfully re-registered, while 467 applications were rejected for various reasons. ECM has advised voters to check their current registration when applying for re-registration.

Re-registration process is carried out online and voters can process their requets via e-Faas application. For online submissions through the re-registration portal, applicants must include a copy of an official document verifying their status as a voter. If submitted through the eFaas application applicants are not required to provide a photograph or images of both sides of the ID card.

Since re-registration process is conducted online, those facing difficulties in submitting their forms online are encouraged to visit the ECM Headquarters in Dharubaaruge, where ECM staff will provide assistance.

ECM has provided options for checking registered voter information through its website and by sending a message to 1414.
