In a decisive move towards resident-focused development, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has revealed that the administration is aligning its initiatives with the most crucial requests of the island's residents. The commitment was underscored during a meeting with the Island Council and Women's Development Committee (WDC) of Guraidhoo, Thaa Atoll.
During this meeting, President Muizzu noted that the long-awaited Guraidhoo Airport development project is set to commence within the year, addressing a key concern raised by the island's residents.
The Council members spoke on the significance of the Guraidhoo airport project for the overall development of the community. Additionally, they emphasised pressing needs in healthcare, conveying concerns from the fishing community about current rates and dues. The council members noted the necessity for road construction, the development of sports facilities for youth, and the urgent requirement for a school bus, especially during the rainy season. These requests were made in light of challenging road conditions, space constraints in the Council Secretariat, and the need to alleviate the council's financial burden amid budget constraints.
President Muizzu further emphasised the policies outlined during his recent Presidential Address, specifically addressing the Administration's commitment to the development of the fisheries sector. He assured the Council members of his proactive approach, pledging to work towards resolving their concerns after consulting with relevant authorities.
