Veymandoo Council shares most pertinent needs to President

Veymandoo Island Council have expressed their most pressing needs, residents' challenges, and the community's developmental aspirations to President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu. President met with the Island Council and Women's Development Committee (WDC) of Veymandoo, Thaa Atoll at the Secretariat of the Veymandoo Council.

At the meeting, council members highlighted their most pertinent needs, residents' challenges, and the community's developmental aspirations. These include sports and exercise for youth, space constraints at the harbour, a halt in the construction of the police station, and the challenges in waste management. Council members also proposed the development of an ice plant to ease the difficulties local fishermen face.

Speaking at the meeting, the WDC members raised additional concerns about the lack of a children's park, the lack of sports facilities for women on the island, and the space constraints faced at the Council Secretariat. The WDC also shared its concerns relating to the limited budget provided to the WDC.

In response to the issues brought forth during the meeting, President Dr. Muizzu assured that the relevant ministries of the government would work closely with the council to seek amicable solutions.

Veymandoo Island is the fourth destination of the President's ongoing three-day tour of Thaa Atoll, accompanied by a delegation of high-level Government officials.
