President commits to ending decades of neglect in Thaa Atoll

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has pledged to address the prolonged history of neglect experienced by Kandoodhoo in Thaa Atoll. This commitment was articulated during a gathering with Kandoodhoo residents.

President Dr. Muizzu further elucidated on his dedication, expressing his intent to ensure that Thaa Atoll is presented with development opportunities commensurate with other atolls, leading to the overall advancement of its islands.

Highlighting the government's role in meeting the needs of the people, President Dr. Muizzu underscored the administration's commitment to realizing the aspirations of the populace. He noted that upon assuming office, the Maldivian economy faced significant challenges, but measures implemented by the administration have been endorsed by an impartial investigation conducted by the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

The President affirmed the government's policy to provide comprehensive treatment for thalassemia, emphasizing significant decisions taken by the Cabinet in this regard. Special attention will be directed towards thalassemia-affected children and their families, with the assurance of well-equipped health centers staffed by trained professionals.

Empowering local councils and fostering community enrichment are integral aspects of the President's vision. Additionally, he pledged to address the long-standing sewerage project stagnation in Kandoodhoo, a consequence of neglected expenditures in the previous government. Assuring swift resolution, the President conveyed his commitment to completing the sewerage system in Kandoodhoo.

In addressing the broader economic landscape, the President asserted that the revival of the entire economy is essential for the sustainable growth of tourism. Initiatives already underway aim to instill investor confidence, subsequently fostering the development of more resorts in the province and expanding the tourism sector.
