President reveals plans to connect Kinbidhoo and Veymandoo via causeway

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced an upcoming project to connect Veymandoo and Kinbindhoo with a causeway. He made this pledge while speaking at a gathering with the residents of Kinbidhoo in Thaa Atoll, during his ongoing trip to the atoll.

Speaking at the gathering, President Dr. Muizzu reiterated the government's commitment to building causeways connecting Kinbindhoo and Veymandoo, as well as Madifushi and Dhiyamigili, aligning with residents' wishes. He underscored economic growth as a top priority, with initiatives aimed at boosting income and development island-wide.

Additionally, President Dr. Muizzu emphasised that the country’s development hinges on economic recovery, approved by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to expand the economy. He additionally pledged to empower islanders for prosperity, vowing to meet councils on islands within the next month rather than calling them to his office.

Furthermore, President Dr. Muizzu has emphasised his commitment to fostering individual development across all islands and ensuring business opportunities for women. He highlighted the potential for generating income outside island jurisdiction, particularly through the utilisation of uninhabited islands. He assured that this facilitation will extend to all councils.

The construction of a causeway between Veymandoo and Kinbindhoo was a pledge made by the previous administration. President of the Kinbindhoo Island Council Ali Hussain expressed disappointment over the project's incomplete status despite government authority. He also emphasised the community's strong desire for connectivity between the two islands.
