President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has encouraged the council to capitalise on the opportunities presented by the government, with the aim of generating substantial revenue for the island and its inhabitants. He made the statement during his meeting with the Kinbidhoo Island Council and the women's development committee (WDC). The meeting took place at the Kinbidhoo School in Thaa Atoll.
During the meeting, council members shared the island’s developmental challenges and the residents' concerns with President Dr. Muizzu. Some concerns raised at the meeting include the need to connect Kinbidhoo and Veymandoo through reclamation and the development of a multipurpose hall for the school. Council members also shared the challenges faced by Kinbidhoo residents in seeking Aasandha, the government's universal healthcare insurance scheme. Council members relayed concerns related to tourism development, transportation, and social issues. They also conveyed the difficulties faced by the island's youth due to insufficient sports facilities on the island.
Additionally, WDC members also shared their concerns and their most important needs with President Dr. Muizzu. They also raised concerns about budget constraints and the difficulties faced by women in marketing their products.
Speaking at the meeting, President Dr. Muizzu assured that the administration would work alongside relevant authorities to seek solutions to the concerns raised. He encouraged the council to capitalise on the opportunities presented by the government, with the aim of generating substantial revenue for the island and its inhabitants. Moreover, he underscored the government's ongoing commitment to women's empowerment, affirming that the administration will continue to create increased opportunities for women in the future.
