Gov't begins flat allocations to eligible recipients next week

Minister of Housing, Land, and Urban Development Dr. Ali Haidar has announced that the allocation of flats to individuals on the eligible recipient list will commence next week. He made the statement during his address to the Parliamentary Committee on National Development and Heritage, tasked with the allocation process.

Speaking at the Parliament, Minister Haidar addressed concerns regarding delays in flat allocations and the declaration of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) of many applicants as ineligible. He revealed that out of the 724 individuals included in the ACC's 20% eligible candidates list, only application form numbers were provided to the ministry, with no access yet granted to the Gedhoruverin Portal. He, however, mentioned that the ACC has assured access to the portal by the end of this week, paving the way for the allocation process to commence.

Following the ACC's investigation, it was found that 59.6% of applicants didn't meet the requirements. Minister Haidar affirmed the ministry's full cooperation with an independent investigation, pledging to examine the list of ineligible candidates and the reasons behind their disqualification.

Furthermore, Minister Haidar outlined the allocation criteria, emphasizing prioritization based on points. The initial batch of 4,000 recipients for the ongoing project comprises those scoring over 73 points for 2-bedroom apartments and above 76 points for 3-bedroom ones. Notably, this corresponds to the number of flats available in the project, although the previous government had identified over 13,000 eligible candidates.

The committee has requested the ACC to share the list of eligible individuals, a request Minister Haidar pledged to fulfill promptly.
