President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced that upcoming housing projects will prioritise employees within the tourism sector. He made the announcement during the "Raees ge Javaab" series, which facilitates direct public interaction with the President on diverse issues.
During the session, Thaha Hussein from Meedhoo, Raa Atoll, voiced concerns to President Dr. Muizzu regarding the housing situation for tourism workers and the engagement of the government with industry personnel.
In response, President Dr. Muizzu emphasised the government's commitment to prioritising individuals employed in the tourism sector, particularly the youth within the industry. He stressed the importance of developing the tourism sector in collaboration with its workforce.
Regarding the social housing initiative for tourism employees, President Dr. Muizzu confirmed that the relevant framework has been approved. He also said that categories and point systems will be established through consultation with various tourism associations and industry professionals.
Furthermore, President Dr. Muizzu outlined plans to allocate a percentage of housing projects to tourism workers in their respective areas of employment, not limited to the Greater Male' Region. He indicated that the government's upcoming housing project will offer opportunities specifically for those in the tourism sector, with the aim of making it available within the year.
