Gov't to establish USD ATM in Maafushi this year

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has affirmed the establishment of a USD ATM in Maafushi, Kaafu Atoll this year. The announcement was made during the "Raees ge Javaab" series, fostering direct public interaction on various issues.

Ahmed Sameer from Maafushi inquired about the President's commitments to the island, specifically regarding the installation of a dollar ATM. In response, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu reiterated the commitment to installing a USD ATM in Maafushi, with the collaboration of the Bank of Maldives (BML).

Sameer also raised concerns about the President's commitment to reclaim land in Maafushi. Addressing this, President Dr. Muizzu clarified that while the project may not commence immediately in the current year, efforts will be initiated as soon as possible. He emphasised that he will not delay projects for the final year of his term, expressing the intent to implement such initiatives promptly.

As one of the prominent local tourism destinations in the Maldives, Maafushi residents are troubled by the absence of a USD ATM and the limited land available for residential and tourism expansion.
