Nearly 300,000 tourists arrive to the Maldives so far

The Ministry of Tourism has revealed that the number of tourist arrivals in the Maldives by 2024 has increased to nearly 300,000 so far.

The latest data from the Daily Updates report issued by the tourism ministry show that 294,923 tourists arrived to the Maldives as of February 13, which is a 16.2% increase compared to the 253,841 arrivals during the same period last year. The statistics show that 192,385 tourists visited the Maldives in January of this year, with 102,538 arrivals recorded from February 1-13. On average, 7,888 tourists visit the Maldives daily.

The statistics also show that February 10 witnessed a record-breaking increase of tourists to the Maldives, with 10,213 arrivals recorded on that day. It marks the highest number of tourists visiting in a single day in the history of the Maldives.

The largest number of tourists visited the Maldives from China with 40,892 arrivals, while 28,973 tourists visited from Russia, 27,552 visited from Italy, 26,120 visited from the United Kingdom (UK), and 20,903 visited from India. A total of 1,146 tourist establishments are open in the Maldives, consisting of 61,586 beds.

The government's target is to attract 2 million tourists this year, but the ministry anticipates that the actual number of tourists will reach 2.3 million.
