President arrives in Addu City to begin tour

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has arrived in Addu City as the maiden destination of his tour of the several islands in four atolls in the southernmost region of the Maldives.

President Dr. Muizzu was warmly welcomed at the Gan International Airport (GIA) upon his arrival to Addu. He was greeted by Mayor of Addu City Hassan Nizar and a multitude of residents from various islands in the atoll gathering to extend their welcome.

The tour begins with a visit to Hithadhoo, Addu, where President Dr. Muizzu will meet with the Hithadhoo Island Council and the women’s development committee (WDC), as well as engage directly with the residents of the island. He will also oversee the signing of a pivotal agreement related to the development of Addu.

Over the course of five days, the tour will encompass visits to numerous islands within Addu, Fuvahmulah City, and both the North and South Huvadhu Atolls. President Dr. Muizzu will engage with city and island councils and the WDCs during his tour. He will also meet with city and island communities to discuss the intended developmental plans for their respective communities and share their concerns with the President.

A high-level government delegation will accompany the President on this tour.
