"Record funds disbursed to fishermen in short timeframe"

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has asserted that his government has disbursed the highest amount of money to fishermen within a brief timeframe, addressing recent false narratives circulating about the disbursement of funds to fishermen.

Acknowledging the challenges and grievances faced by fishermen in Addu City, President Dr. Muizzu noted that outstanding payments are also due to the fishermen of Maradhoo and Maradhoo-Feydhoo. He assured the fishermen from these two islands that an amount of USD 1.9 million would be promptly disbursed.

The president clarified that the issue of overdue payments to fishermen is a consequence of past misguided policies and not the fault of the current government. He affirmed that his administration has initiated specific measures to expedite the payment of funds to fishermen.

Furthermore, president highlighted that a total of USD 28.7 million has already been disbursed to fishermen, representing the largest sum allocated to fishermen within a short duration.

Acknowledging the challenges faced during these difficult times, the president appealed to fishermen to collaborate with the government to address these issues.
