Second phase of Fuvahmulah City Road Development Project commences

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has launched the second phase of the Fuvahmulah City road development project.

The second phase of road development project was launched by President Dr. Muizzu, along side Minister of Construction and Infrastructure Dr. Abdulla Muththalib, Mayor Ismail Rafiq, and CEO of Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) Abdulla Ziyad.

The project, executed by MTCC, aims to pave a total of 50 roads within the city, covering an extensive area of approximately 12.7 km. Recognising the recurrent issue of flooding during the rainy season, the project incorporates the installation of a drainage system to address the challenge of muddy and impractical roads. The government has entrusted MTCC with the USD14 million initiative, expecting its completion within a two-year timeframe.

This initiative marks a significant step in fulfilling the government's commitment to enhance city infrastructure, specifically focusing on road development. The commencement of the second phase follows the successful completion of the initial phase in 2022, reinforcing the government's dedication to addressing critical infrastructure needs in Fuvahmulah City.
