Vaadhoo Council notes urgency in prioritising island's economic advancement

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has met with members of the Council of Vaadhoo, Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll and Women’s Development Committee (WDC) at the Faresmaathoda Council Secretariat to discuss key issues facing the island's economic development.

The Council emphasised the need for improved employment opportunities and overall economic conditions on the island. Concerns were raised about the insufficient port space, road conditions hindered by potholes, stalled development projects, and the importance of addressing these challenges for the island's economic and social progress.

Meanwhile, WDC highlighted specific needs, including a designated office, a swimming track, an outdoor gym, and additional housing units for the island.

President Dr. Muizzu reiterated his commitment to leveraging the island's resources for economic growth. He underscored the government's focus on promoting agriculture and ensuring food security, with plans to attract agricultural investments to the island. The President also pledged to address stalled projects and prioritize the concerns raised by the Council.

Accompanied by a high-level government delegation, President Dr. Muizzu is on a tour of Addu City, Fuvahmulah City, and the North and South Huvadhoo Atolls.
