President announces Gadhdhoo-Maavarulu Airport link road project

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced plans to establish a link road between Gadhdhoo and Maavarulu Airport, serving air transport in Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll. He made the remarks while speaking at a meeting with the residents of Gadhdhoo during his ongoing visit to the Southern Atolls.

Speaking at the gathering, President Dr. Muizzu pledged to fulfill the citizens' requests within a set timeframe, including land reclamation to address space issues on the island. Emphasising budgetary inclusion, he assured collaboration among relevant government entities to promptly initiate land reclamation efforts.

Additionally, President Dr. Muizzu highlighted the significance of enhancing regional transportation. He underscored the proposed connectivity project between Maavarulu Airport, situated a mere 15-minute sea journey apart, and Gadhdhoo. He stressed that bolstering the transportation infrastructure is pivotal for economic advancement in the area.

Furthermore, President outlined plans for the expansion of Maavarulu Airport and the construction of a road linking Gadhdhoo and Maavarulu, prioritising these initiatives for governmental attention. He also articulated a vision for a substantial tourism expansion project in the region.

Moreover, President Dr. Muizzu committed to establishing a hospital on the island to enhance healthcare accessibility, while assuring that other vital projects will be tailored to community needs. He also underscored the necessity of cooperation between local councils and residents for successful project implementation, emphasising that such endeavors rely on collaborative efforts.
